Founded over a century ago, Pike Place Market is located in the Market Historic District of Seattle, and remains a cornerstone today as a center for farm fresh, artesian and specialty foods.
Identity
Not only is Pikes Place market home to artisan foodies but it is also home to more than 350 residents. In order to accommodate the neighborhoods unique diversity it is proposed to coordinate a branding and marketing campaign that will unify the area as one. While Pike Place Market is a unique Seattle gem, it is important to develop a sense of pride and unity with not just the residents, but its visitors as well. It is necessary to establish a brand for Pike Place that reflects its character as well as promoting its diversity.
StationEry Set
To help further unite and promote the markets different sections, a color coated stationery set was proposed.
SMARTPHONE APP
Wanting to make sure the past is kept alive, the Pikes Place app includes an historical augmented reality feature. By pointing your phone anywhere in the market, you will see red drops appear, when clicked a tab with more information will display, This tab features a hour glass, when clicked you will be taken back in time with an historical photo of what the market use to look like.
The app also has an interactive map, Market history and directory that gives users the option to sort through places to shop, as well as eat.
Responsive Website
In addition to the mobile app, a responsive web design was also created, the website focuses on highlights that Pike Place Market has to offer, as well as featured vendors.
SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING
Since the market is made up of several buildings across multiple blocks several signs and wayfinding methods were created. Metal wall directionals to placed around the buildings, point out the markets most popular destinations. The solar powered Directory Kiosk features an interactive touch screen that has an interactive map, and market directory. As well as color coated signs for inside the market's buildings.
Subscription Box
To help promote Pike Place Market's over 250 independent businesses, a monthly subscription box was created. Each month subscribers would receive 5 unique artisan food and craft products from different businesses.
Poster Brochure
An informative poster brochure was also created, one side promotes historic photos, while the other includes important historical facts and a map of the market.
